We spent this past weekend in the mountains. It was relaxing. It was educational. It was fun. As a new parent I pay attention, voluntary and involuntary, to other parents and their kids.

There is no growth without friction. We are establishing a rapport of trust For the future … She – Pushing limits. We – Staying put. Yet both adapting.

Last week Jackie entered into the “NO” phase, (the stubborn kind). And then the “Why” phase. She is so inquisitive and she actually remembers what I tell her. Like a little hungry bird, opening its beak to information and to knowledge.

J: What does that red sign say? Me: Extinguisher. J: What is this below? Me: Fire extinguisher J: What does it do?

She is a snuggle bug. And we love it. But as she feels more and more at home, instead of the cup filling up faster, the bucket seems to get bigger.

A memorable day, surprisingly easy though somewhat hectic navigating the mall with little feet and little hands and easily distracted eyes.

We’ve had a few very smooth days in a row. No iPad. No chocolate. Plenty of reasoning. Patience. (I pray for patience every day) Daddy just got teary for how happy he has felt these days. I concur.

The days are long. As of last week Jaclyn decided that she doesn’t want to take naps. I am trying to figure out why that is… she just says she doesn’t want to sleep, though she is tired.
