My first hikes were with my grandmother in the field, in Piatra Neam Prim, with a dig on the shoulder. At the same time Conrad went with Boy Scouts (Scouts) in Vermont. And yet our paths crossed, and now we wander together through Transylvania.
On the eve of the holiday, we took the time to go out with new friends, in the forest, close to us and them.
What a pleasure to walk step by step, through the sticky mud, then watch for frogs, and flowers and mushrooms, listen to stories and birds, and enjoy the company of friends big and small. Then finish the hike in a hammock, with wet and dirty socks, with tired feet but with a full and small heart and marshmallows on the fire.
Our children learn to observe nature, and learn that they are resilient, that discomfort is not the end of the world, and they can do difficult things. This is how I ended a good school year. Challenging in places but good.
