We started this blog in the early spring of 2014, in California. We documented our journey, with all it’s detours, as I dug deeper and went farther.
Last night I thought to myself that I may suspend the blog until I have news about adoption. For the 15 readers out there… you’ll be forced to talk with me directly 🙂
This morning though, we got the much awaited call, and we went to the Child Protection Office to read the dossier. It was surreal as we were driving there. It’s a sunny beautiful Fall day. Crisp air. We saw pictures. Read her history and decided to meet her right away. Alas, we will drive up tomorrow morning with a social worker to make first contact at her current foster home.
With the new laws passed this summer, new programs were implemented, including the matching program which allows for little human intervention. As it turns out we were the only couple matched with this girl, though there were many other couples certified before us. So this matching is unusually fast.
It’s happening! As I got off the phone I told Conrad that we are invited to see about our daughter. It took him a while to process. It is a surreal feeling, yet it all feels very normal, casual.
Tomorrow morning we meet face to face. The practical matching is commencing…
