Yes, I’ve been married that long.

To commemorate this anniversary, we embarked last minute on this camping overnight adventure. The reason I do it is to get back in touch with the earth, literally. Also to test our limits, get all dirty and listen to crickets and loud birds before falling asleep. We love an old fashion challenge, as we eventually make it back into a clean soft bed, after a most satisfying shower.

It was a memorable trip, with s’mores and colorful hills. We went for a walk at dawn through the camp ground and we saw bunny-rabbits with puffy white tails hopping across the path in front of us. Lots of quails with funny hats, fluffy tail squirrels leaping across the hills, a deer with its faun, wild turkey, and all kinds of beautiful birds. Overnight, we heard a variety of sniffing sounds around the tent, little steps, big fast heavy jumps, and some kind of howling, enough to give both of us weird dreams.

We went for a mighty long hike to the caves, followed by bees and flies, heat and the nature’s eerie silence. We held hands, took pictures, bickered about who is drinking too much water… Conrad teased me with a new nickname: Sippy McGulper. We daydreamed and we made plans, but mostly we enjoyed each other’s company in silence and it was comfortable. That’s the stuff…
