We dug up all my treasures, boxes of jewelry, buckets of earrings, old rings, necklaces, bracelets… we spent an hour trying them on, mixing the earrings and then finding their match…
then Jackie found daddy’s two rings, one from his teenage years, and another one, a family ring from his Grampa Field.
Daddy had just finished a call with a client, so Jackie took both rings and brought them to daddy. Took his hand and somewhat clumsily but with determination, placed each ring on daddy’s fingers and said: “I love you daddy!” Returned to her room where all my stuff was spread on her bed and said “I told daddy I love him and I gave him a kiss.”
Backstory: A few weeks ago she asked me what my rings mean. I told her they mean that her daddy loves me.
She tries my rings on and says “I love you Jackie!” Then puts them back on my fingers and says “I love you mommy!”
