32 and about connection

I look at the phone and it’s a unknown number. Nothing unusual because of wanderlust. I pick up and at the other end I hear the question: mrs Altmann? I answer affirmative. He introduces himself. And then he proceeds to ask me if I know Apple. Hmmm, odd question. I ask him to repeat the question, unsure if I heard well. Then he proceeds to give me the low down of the advantages of purchasing apple stock. and he goes on like that for a while. Phone soliciting has not gotten as big and annoying as it is in the states. Often you can sense the human at the other end, and i give them the time of day.

But in this particular instance, whatever he was trying to sell me, I already had. I told him I am familiar with Apple because I worked for them for many years, and I already own stock. And I concur, they are a great company and I have been following the progress of their stock. He was taken aback, and asked me who hosts my stock. I said e-trade …I think he was in disbelief that this one Romanian he called worked for Apple. He didn’t do his homework… and I was a bit embarrassed myself for him. The moment you google my name LinkedIn pops up with my work history.

Today is Conrad’s birthday. He turns 32. His gift is binoculars for birdwatching. (Thank you mom and dad!)

It is a good day. He is happy. I am happy. I just met with my girlfriends in the wee hours of the morning, and it was good.

I just read a good article on a topic that has been on my mind. An article by Printesa Urbana. It speaks to my heart!

When your spouse shares his childlike excitement for whatever random thing that you couldn’t care less for, join in and connect with him. Try and respond with interest. And this, you get to connect in good times, not just hard times. Conrad loves flowers, birds, toads, land, and landscape, dwell, and any kind of design, sci-fi books, adventure movies, technology, traveling, historical movies, good food, shoes, baking, coffee and everything in between.

I like swimming, and cleaning the house, and going on walks, books, finances, climbing, kayaking, cooking and getting haircuts.

Alas, appreciating the other’s interests and good deeds, every day, can make life sweet and happy long term.
