Social engagement for two introverts

Today Conrad talked about writing books to a class of 11 year old kids. They were engaged, asked great questions, and the hour flew by. It all started with his #Exolegacy book. The teacher bought the book, read it, loved it, and during science fiction week, she told the kids about it. That was last Fall. Now it’s Spring time. And he was invited as a guest speaker during a special school week. When he was asked about his work and he mentioned this book title, they all recognized it. I really enjoyed watching Conrad engage with the kids. He is gifted. And doesn’t want people to know about it. 🤭

The morning started with an engaging conversation over coffee with a couple who is exploring adoption to expand their family. They shared their story, we talked about the fulfilling and the draining side of parenting, we told them about our adoption journey, bits and pieces based on their questions, and we joked a lot. I got to hug a friend I hadn’t seen since last year. We are so different and I am aware of it. I’m the low maintenance, sporty rather lazy relaxed fashion, and she is always so put together. But I sense her complete attention and engagement when we meet. And that is the essence, not the outwardly stuff. I remember being told that I exude a kind of refreshing confidence around higher management when I worked at Apple. I always see people as people, not their titles or their accomplishments.
