Our third day in Cluj took us all over the city, mostly walking. Thankfully my calves are starting to warm up to constant motion. I feel that they’ve partially atrophied in the past six months only walking to and from the car and sitting all day.
We found a great little boutique in one of the older parts of town called Orangerie that carries a plethora of handmade goods from locals artists, including jewelry from local jewelry designer Criss Barsony, whom I had just been emailing with earlier that day. Needless to say, Vio fell in love with one of her ceramic rings, so naturally, we splurged. It won’t decorate the apartment, but it supports the local artists, and that’s a goal for us being here.
I also found a great collection of coasters with letterpressed old coats-of-arms from all of the cities of Transilvania. The paper is handmade here as well. Yet another business I can’t wait to acquaint myself with while here.
Aside from those gems, vio bought a new fancy purse and nearly a dozen pairs of wooden earrings from another local artist that she had met years ago.
