Reading out laud to each other

“When you really know someone, you can not hate them”

Traveling made me see my relationship with Conrad in a new light. Traveling back to his home, even more so.
I love my independence. And here I don’t have to translate, persuade, drive or negotiate for anyone. Though over the last year Conrad has become fully independent in Romania… it didn’t start that way.

For 8 years now we begin our morning in silence, or talking things through, sipping coffee together, often before the sun is up. The memory of this shared time together tie us even closer, even and especially during rough seasons, of noise and overstimulation.

This winter we started reading together a book series. It started with Ender’s Game, which we each read separately. Now as often as we can, in the morning, over coffee, before the family is up, Conrad reads me another chapter. We just finished the third book. The quote I started the blog post with is from this third book. And this quote speaks volumes to me.
