My Facebook got hacked (though a page I managed) and my birth date was changed. The account was locked because I was now in violation of their terms and conditions, due to age restrictions. I was ok loosing Facebook but the problem is that when Meta acquired WhatsApp, it linked my accounts, and now WhatsApp flagged me as underage, and my number was locked out.
I was able to schedule my Facebook to be erased after 18 years of use, and eventually my WhatsApp account will be deleted as well due to inactivity. Right now I just can’t access it to release my number.
To be honest I’m not too sad to pare down my social media. All these updated terms and conditions, sharing data between platforms, and our content being given freely to train AI, it raised some concerns over the last few months.
