As I write about everything that moves me, I wish I took better writing classes. I wrote lame poetry as an early teen, and my literary interpretations in school were better than average, and yet, I feel that there is an untapped wisdom and creativity in writing. And though I practice, i don’t know how to access it. Mentors in any area are few and far between, but in such a personal creative area, writing is the least supported.
This year Jackie took her music to a new level. She lets herself be seen, heard, discovered. I knew she was talented but I take great pleasure in hearing how her teachers really hear her for the first time.
She built the foundation. And we all persevered. We didn’t give up too soon. Now things fall into place. Music, like writing, you can’t develop on your own. You need a guide. And she has four music teachers. And they are kind and not stressed and they see the kids and give them space and sometimes they mean business but often they play. They play music. And they let the kids play. We simply show up.
