Scoliosis update

The most frustrating part is hearing left and right that there is no answer, no radical solution, no cure. Everyone shrugs and all the leads I followed didn’t go far. Some made a small difference but we were left with our scoliosis to fend for ourselves. I felt hopeless without any visible results. It not getting worse was not encouraging to me.

But then we found a good Kineto therapist who doesn’t just gently guides but actually gets their hands tired alongside the patient.

Realignment, using and training the muscles, empowering my daughter to do the work and not just telling me as the parent to drag her. The “correction posture” as she calls it, like a chiropractor, turns, pushes, twists, helps her do breathing exercises and calls her attention to a set of muscles that actually drag and straighten the spine.

We normally don’t use our brains to control said spine muscles. It’s exhausting even to sit up straight for long for someone with a slight hunch. But this lady, Emeșe she has a way with people. She is warm, positive, strong and energetic. Age yet she’s calm and sees and listens.

Last three visited Jackie went alone and she even paid for the sessions with her pocket money. I wanted her to feel the value as well. Appreciate it. Pay attention.

On Friday we got the new corset. It is a beauty. A work of art. And so far it’s been well accepted by Jackie.

That was 450 on top of insurance. Which I gladly paid. I told our daughters I will cover their  medical expenses but they also need to make an effort. Do their stretches, wear the corset, brush their teeth… you know, the usual suspects.

Ortoprofil is too notch. The orthopedist who saw Jackie, gave us advice, explained what is happening, and was a quiet calming presence, a knowledgeable expert in his field.

He and took her mold for the corset, he helped her stay in correction while making the  mold. Now Jackie sits straight with it. At pick up he heated up the areas that needed a bit more adjusting, her hip bones, the shoulder etc.

She now does stretches to relax out of the corset for 30 minutes, and her back looks visibly better. In just three days. She wears it day and night and after a summer of not wearing one at all (the old one was a mistake), she is back on track.

I feel like celebrating seeing the difference. I have 600 pictures of her back and the evolution and involution of her scoliosis. Her ability to hold a straight back is impressive. We have a ways to go, she still has to wear it and do stenches, but I see progress. Amazing team work progress. Her cooperation the Kineto chiropractor style stretches and corrections, and a good orthopedist who cares about the product they create and are hands-on to fit it well.
